Catching Our Breath – Prayer for the Long Run 9 – 11 am

Spend a morning exploring a time-honored prayer form to lead into contemplative awareness: our breath. Both Hebrew and Greek scriptures speak of the Spirit with words that pertain to breath. Like Ezekiel’s dry bones, God breathes us into life. Learn and experience deep awareness of breath as a doorway into contemplative prayer. We will also explore simple breath prayers. Retreat – Entering Advent’s Night

Do you yearn to slow down in these days before Christmas? Do you desire to experience Advent as a spiritual time of preparing ourselves for Christ’s birth? Come to the Monastery and take time to listen for God’s voice. We will look for God’s Advents in our own lives.

How can we make space in our lives where God can be born? We’ll explore scripture, hymns, liturgy and Advent symbols for insight and guidance. And we’ll delve deeply into what it means to say “yes” to divine invitation.

The rhythm of this retreat alternates between presentations, silent individual time, and group sharing in which to interact with the material. The retreat sessions also allow for full participation in all the monastic times of prayer.

Retreat – God Calling – An Invitation to Prayer

Are you finding yourself too busy to pause in the racket and to ask yourself deeper questions about your life? For example: What is your deepest longing? Do you know that a deep longing for God is in reality God’s deep longing for you?

This retreat will give both men and women an opportunity to answer some of these important questions. It will also provide experiential pieces woven throughout the weekend, times of silence to be open and aware of divine presence, and the experience of prayer forms that are doorways into contemplative prayer and resting in God.

What is our response to God who longs for us? Is it evident in our prayer posture and spiritual practice? Prayer is silence and listening and openness … as well as words or thoughts or images and speaking. Our “image” of God profoundly influences and shapes our prayer life. Who is God, Christ, Spirit to us?
